Heusden is a picturesque historic town located in the southern Netherlands, in the province of North Brabant (Noord-Brabant). It is part of the Heusden municipality and has around 1,400 residents, while the wider municipality is home to over 43,000 people. The town lies on the River Maas, about 15 kilometres northwest of ’s-Hertogenbosch (Den Bosch).
Heusden is famous for its beautifully preserved 17th-century town centre, with narrow streets, classic Dutch houses, and restored fortifications. It was carefully rebuilt after World War II and is now considered one of the best-preserved fortified towns in the Netherlands. Beyond its tourist appeal, Heusden offers a calm living environment with local shops, schools, cafés, and bus connections. Its location near the A59 motorway provides easy access to larger cities such as Den Bosch, Waalwijk, and Tilburg.
