Kessel is a picturesque village located in the southeastern Netherlands, in the province of Limburg. It is part of the Peel en Maas municipality and has around 3,200 residents. The village lies directly on the River Maas, at an elevation of about 25 metres above sea level, between Venlo (around 12 km) and Roermond (around 20 km).
Kessel is known for its scenic riverside setting and for Kasteel de Keverberg, a modern reconstruction of a medieval castle that is one of the main attractions in the region. The village offers good amenities including shops, a school, restaurants, a pharmacy, bus stops, and leisure areas along the river. The surroundings are green and peaceful, with cycling and walking routes following the Maas valley. Thanks to the nearby N273 road and A67 motorway, Kessel has excellent connections to Venlo, Roermond, and Eindhoven.
